Beached Whale Alert

This past Friday I had a meeting with my boss and a person who we have hired to help us with our capital campaign strategy. It was to focus on the ground breaking event in November. The meeting took place at a little restaurant called The Tiki that sits right on the water. Our table was right on the water. AND, I saw dolphins while eating. How. Freakin. Cool. Is. That?

I told them I couldn't go there anymore b/c I was distracted and like "meeting? what meeting? oh yeah the groundbreaking....sure I can do the centerpieces - oh look a dolphin!"

ahhhhh in paradise my friends

Mr. Fitness was here all weekend. It was the best weekend since I've been here and it felt complete. We had a good weekend but unfortunately, I dropped him off at the airport a few hours ago and the complete feeling is now gone.

We had a strategy of when we are going to see each other again but now we aren't so sure. Because some one who shall remain nameless keeps changing the date of her child's 1st bday party! I'm gonna beat you girl! She's changed it for me too so I can't complain too much :o)

It will all workout though.

We went to the beach on Monday and I even went in the water and played for a while. I would jump over the waves and dive into the bigger waves. I might can do the ocean as long as someone is in the water with me like Chad. We also went to a cool restaurant in Jensen Beach called Craw Daddy's. It was yum! Chad had the best garlic mashed potatoes and I ate andouille sausage with red beans and rice! Soooo Naw'lins.

Here are some pics:

Oh look! It's a beached whale!

Chad's feet - apparently we like taking pictures of our feet in the sand:

The beached whale is eating! A sour worm!

What a view! The waves were huge and there were surfer dudes everywhere!

Beached whale eating sour worms under the umbrella - always have to be completely covered under that thing! I don't want sagging leather skin like 90% of the people here!

Update from the Sunshine State

Sailfish capital of the world: Stuart, Florida - my favorite place so far...

More Stuart - Dockside - Intercoastal Boardwalk type place - by the way, my new electrolysis (for my Brooke Shield eyebrows) lady's office overlooks this in a penthouse suite - NICE!

Me at the beach for five hours on Sunday:

On my way home from the beach - this guy was going like 15 mph - but what you can't really see in this picture is that attached to his little basket in the back is a stuffed Donkey from Shrek lol

My office building:

Chad is coming down to visit me next weekend! yah! He also has an interview. Not really but kinda. Its not for a job right now - for next school as possibly as headmaster of the junior high or high school so that would be right up his alley. We'll see.

'Sup People

hey ya'll! (in my most southern accent I can muster up - since I've been trying to hide it - I have to bring it out sometime)

So far so good in the land of palm trees, lizards and the annoying-the-hell-of-out-me dog. And as you know I don't say hell lightly...ever.

Job is great - there is so much going on right now that I can hardly breathe but that's a good thing. At least I'm not sitting around wondering what the heck I'm supposed to be doing! I have to be busy.

So, this weekend kinda sucked. It was the first weekend without Mr. Fitness and it was pretty bad. Friday night I went over to a friends house and met other people and ate ribs and mac-n-cheese (talk about a southern meal, huh? I felt like I was in good ole Alabama with that good cookin). It was actually fun, but still not the same with Mr. Fitness. Saturday was awful. I wallowed my misery by looking at furniture in the gazillion furniture stores in the area, went to Luna's for some garlic knots and walked the boardwalk. Again, sounds like fun but it really wasn't without Mr. Fitness. Bleh. Then I shopped for three hours at Kohl's. Typically, shopping cures all ills, but not this time. I was just sick of it by hour number three. So, I got a movie and went home to chill. I did go to the beach for five hours on Sunday. Now that was nice. A good distraction for my misery but still I keep thinking of how much more fun things are with him.

I know this is all par for the course, but it's still hard when you are going through it. The key is truly to stay busy, which is no problemo during the week. It's the sucky weekends that put a kink in things! But, I am going kayaking this weekend with my counterpart from work, so that indeed will be a good weekend distractor.

I keep telling myself this is all worth it - and it is - and I would do it again even feeling a bit down without Mr. Fitness, but its just hard in the meantime. Man, talk about blogging being good therapy...

I hope you all are doing well. I miss you bunches and bunches. Are you sure you don't want to pick up your life and move down here? I swear, every single one of you would love it.

Till next time...

Firsts in Flo-rida

First Impressions of South Florida (in no particular order):

1. I've never seen so many fake boobs in one place in my life.

2. U-turns are a norm and an OFTEN occurance.

3. One minute the sky is blue and sunny - the next minute it's a torrential downpour.

4. I've never so seen much tanned, leathery, saggy skin in my life.

5. It's ALWAYS 5 o'clock somewhere....'nuff said.

6. Everyone is originally from somewhere else (for the most part anyway).

7. Northern people look a bit white trashy and yell when they talk in any restaurant or store (you can tell they are northern from the accent).
8. I can freakin go to the beach anytime I want! Weird.

Other firsts -

First Temporary Home:

My first bubble bath in FL...

My first day...

My first day self-portrait:

My first day welcoming sign:

My first day desk (yes I know it needs help, which is why we are redecorating our whole office area and getting new furniture! Her sixth sense must have detected I was an expert interior designer hee):

So, my first day was awesome. They had a party for me! There was two different types of keish, pastries from Panera Bread and donuts from Dunkin Donuts, OJ and coffee! yummee! They also gave me flowers, welcome card and a new CHS mug and pen.

I feel good.

Alabama Toe in the Florida Sand

It's just me, Buster and ton of sandhill cranes

So folks, I'm here and you're there.

It's still crazy to think this has happened and I'm doing this. I still don't think it has sunk in yet.

Yesterday was my first day by myself. I shopped til I dropped to drown my sorrows.

But after I dropped Mr. Fitness off at the airport, our realtor calls to say we have someone interested in the house. yah! Thank God! I haven't heard back yet but *crosses fingers* something will come of it.

As soon as the house is sold, Mr. Fitness is coming here! Screw the whole "waiting until December" (hey, that could be the name of a song). I can't stand to be here without him already. I had my breakdown on Sunday. I mean BREAKDOWN. At one point, I swear, I would just hop on that plane with him come Monday. But, my senses came back around.

My first night was okay. I was exhausted from Shopping so I watched the Terminator season premiere, colored my hair and ate popcorn. Then fell asleep watching Coyote Ugly (she's goes off to find her dream - so there were some similarities here)

The only bad part was Buster, my roomie's dog, who barks on a whim. He scares the piss out of me when he does that. My nerves were a little on edge. It's dark. It's a new place. I'm by myself. It's super quite. BARK!!!!!!!! You get the picture.

On a different note altogether, you know how The Ham has cow crossing signs or deer crossing signs? They have Crane Crossing signs here. It's funny!!! And they are all over the flippin place! And, I've seen a lot of egrets too (those are small white crane-looking birds for all you non-Zoo people). They are cute!

Okay my Blog peeps - going to get ready to ride my bike.
