WOD 6/29/08

this is what I was supposed to do:
"Lynne"
Five rounds for max reps of: Body weight bench & Pull-ups

but seeing how I'm not an elite fitness guru and all I did this:

push ups off the back of my car (b/c remember I can ONLY do like TWO normal push ups)
jumping pull ups (b/c remember I cannot do ONE SINGLE PULL UP b/c I'm a wussy little girlie girl)

1st round: 54 push ups/15 pull ups
2nd round: 44 push ups/15 pull ups
3rd round: 41 push ups/15 pull ups

well, this wasn't the best workout in the world but today (over 24 hours later) I can't lift my arms over my head and my left shoulder is wounded

OHC Update

I struggle with putting updates like this on here b/c I hate the "oh hey, how did that job interview go?" and you have to get all disappointed again b/c "they picked someone else".

But what the heck. I'm going for it. I have two phone interviews coming up. One this Wed and one next Wed. wish me luck!

p.s. i called the realtor and she is coming out this week AND we now only have one dog. OHC (from our end) is working out quite nicely, though when I picture Roxie's face (one of the dogs we gave away this weekend) my hearts hurts. No, seriously, I feel physical pain in my chest. If we end up putting the house on the market as planned (next week sometime) then we have a LOT to do this weekend AND Chad might be going out of town. We have to paint and stage 2 rooms and clean up and "moderately" landscape outside. Oye - that is a lot of stuff for one person (me!) to do in 3 days.

My Dogs

Well, part of OHC (Operation Holy Cow) is to find new homes for our doggies. We have 4 dogs (used to have 5 until the Cloe left us). But there is no way we can take 4 dogs to FL with us. The original plan was to take Cloe and Harley b/c they are the smallest. Roxie is 65 lbs. Schwartz and Ewok are about 45 lbs. So not only would we have to find a place in FL that would take that many dogs but a place that accepted large dogs. This is not easy. So, we knew early on that we would have to find a new home for 3 of them.

Well, fortunately, we have a friend that is interested in all 3 of them! We didn't even think it would be possible to place all 3 in the same home. So, we are giving it a trial run today. Chad is about to leave to head to Jasper to see if it will work. He already has several pets, but only one is an outside dog. The plan is if they get along and there are no issues b/n our dogs and his, then it should work.

I was going to go with him, but I can't do it. I've already cried this morning and I haven't even been outside to see them yet. My heart just hurts thinking about it and what makes it worse is that it is our doings. It is our decision to give them up. And that hurts.

I don't want Harley to freak out without the other dogs here. So, I'm gonna hang with her.

If we can't find a good home for the Har Har (i.e. someone we are close too not some random person), then we will just take her with us to FL. I think she would love it. I think the Cloe would have loved it too.

WOD 6/27/08

man. this. sucked.

run 200 meters (3.1 feet is one meter)

15 dumb bell swings with 15 lbs

15 thrusters with 25 lbs

15 jumping pull ups

x 3 rounds......

yes I couldn't breathe and almost died until I caught my breathe and sat in front of the fan.

then we ate subway, got home and showered for a night out on the town. It's rare we'll drive BACK to the Ham but we were meeting Andy to watch his friend in the Pegasus Reunion tour. They were at the High Note and Chad and I (and even Andy) were just about the youngest people there....but some of the band members has children who were like 19 so they were there. they played 80s cover songs...so I knew some of them.....then we chilled and then left to go to the 5 pts grill b/c we be hungry (it was midnight, of course we were hungry).

WOD 06/26/08

Played with Jasmine and changed and fed Ariyah. Lifted the remote to watch last week's Army Wives (several reps here to fast forward through commercials) and had to lift a very heavy (filled to the brim) glass of fruity wine to my mouth.

Man, that was a tough workout.

Okay so there is one thing I hate about my job...

I tell people who ask all the time that i love my job. And I truly do. There is no boredom, it's exciting and different and I have to problem-solve all the time and I love that...unless I haven't had my coffee (lots of cream and 3 equals, thank you) which becomes a different story altogether.

BUT, there is something that I cannot stand. That is interviewing other people. I can't stand it.

Esp when I get a ding-bat who hasn't read the Idiots Guide to Interviewing and decides that when asked "so tell me about yourself" means to tell me about things you and your boyfriend of 13 years like to do in your off time. And am I supposed to find out that you are 38 without children and do not want children? Do I care that you like camping and reading and working out (though you don't look like you've worked out in a while)? And am I supposed to give advice when you say that you might get married in 5 years but you don't know that you will b/c you've been together for 13 years and you're not married yet? And how do I take it when said person is describing to me "an obstacle she's had to overcome in the workplace" that she says F'n - twice?

Maybe I need to change my format. I use a lot of situational questions b/c they are all the rage right now. And I kinda like to see people squirm when I ask them.

I don't know but that was 35 minutes of my life I will never get back again....

Made for Adults

you know, MTV's Made reality show? I love that show. Turning a major geek into a hot lead singer in a band. That only happens in movies and on Made. But what I really wish is that they would do that show for adults. Say like a girl who just turned 30 and wants to be a roller derby chick. Oh come on, don't tell me you don't know what that is. You know, the girls that wear rollerblades and gear and fights to knock down other girls on a track? I WOULD SO LOVE TO DO THAT!

I wanna be made.

P.S. Oh and yes I still watch MTV...I'll never be too old for the Real World Season 200 or for shows like "Legally Blonde: the search for the new Elle Woods".

Just so ya know.

WOD 6/25/08

Holy. Mother. Of. Pearl.

That is all i can say about yesterdays workout. The workout was designed for BJ Penn, MMA fighter, whom I love.

http://www.crossfit.com/mt-archive2/003774.html

I did a total of 109 reps.

WOD 06-19-6/23/08

I'm also going to post my workout of the day (WOD) - I may not do it daily as I'm not good with daily things (ask Mr. Fitness and he will agree) but I will journal them here.

So, unless you really care about the workout I'm doing you may want to avoid the WOD posts...not the most exciting stuff. Unless, of course, I do something absolutely amazing and a PR (personal record).

WOD 06/19/08 - max effort Powerlifting comp except instead of bench you do a press thing with the weight over your head (I forgot what its called).
Press over head thing - 70 lbs
Squat - 115 lbs
Deadlift - 185 lbs

WOD 06/20/08 - 10 thrusters and 10 jumping pull ups as many rounds as you can for 20 min. I have to do jumping pull ups b/c I can't do ONE normal pull up. One day....
thrusters - 10 reps with 25 lbs
10 jumping pull ups
I think I did 7 or 8 rounds....can't remember

WOD 06/21/08 - supposed to do 50 muscle ups but we can't do them yet and we don't have access to rings so I did 3 jumping pull ups and 3 dips 15 times. My time was about 20 minutes. I did the workout at my bro n laws house and his squat rack is not conducive to me jumping. I had issues and felt like I was seconds away from dislocating both shoulders.

06/22/08 - OFF DAY

06/23/08 - Run a 5K - I ran/walked 2 miles. Probably walked 75-80% of it. This was hard and abs cramped up for the first part of it. The next time we have to do this, I'm going to start off walking to warm up then try to run more than walk (percentage wise).

As you can see from this, CrossFit is a wide variety of exercises, which is why I 'like' it. I wouldn't say 'love' it b/c I do not love exercise. It's definitely something that I have to force myself to somewhat enjoy. I enjoy the results so that is where I focus my thoughts when I think about working out.

Hopefully, in the next week or so, I will purchase a bike so I can begin cycling in prep for the Tri in August.

I'm 30...Now What?

Okay so I turned 30 on June 2 and months and months beforehand it was my daily goal to figure out what the heck I was going to do in my 30s.....see, I had all these plans in my 20s, which I mostly accomplished (unless I changed my mind and decided not to do something) and now, here I am about to be 30 (this was in January btw) and I have no plans.....what the crap? Well, we will probably have a child but that is not priority and I feel that will come in time. I'm a planner. I need to plan something!

So. Here is my list:

1. Move to a new state. Mr. Fitness and I have picked South Florida so Operation Holy Cow (aka OHC) ensued in January and we are still working on this one.
a. find jobs
b. sell house
2. Lose weight. Get fit and stay fit.
3. Learn a new language...preferably Spanish.
4. Learn to play the guitar.
5. Have electrolysis on my "Brooke Shields" eyebrows and have my teeth whitened.

The list does go on and I will reveal additional items as I see fit.

My point is....

My point in doing this blog thing is basically to document my journey to "get fit" and anything else I care to have other humans read about me. And, I was inspired by Jen Lancaster to start one and have been pondering on it a bit the last few months.

I started doing CrossFit on Saturday, May 3rd before my niece's 2nd birthday party....such a momentous occasion...my bro-n-law has a gym at his house.....I did 50 burpees....if you don't know what a burpee is....watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiwny1-lpTs

I can't do an actual push up so I did the girlie push ups on my knees and they were bruised for about a week. I do a different version of a push ups now and can actually do a few normal, manly push-ups.

My hubby (aka Mr. Fitness) is my workout partner which is good and bad.....I was just pissed the first several weeks because his style of motivation was telling me to "just do it" instead of "just take in 3 breaths and do one more" it's much better now...not sure our marriage would have survived much more of that (j/k)...plus, I was about to make a spectacle out of myself in front of the entire gym.....

Crossfit is about functional strength. Firefighters, police etc do the workout to stay in top physical condition. Me? None of the above but that's okay. ANYONE can do Crossfit.

Okay so anyway, I didn't get on the scales to see what I weighed but I had an idea. WAY too much. Basically, about 60 pounds from where I want to be.

Since then, I have started eating healthy and eating healthy consistently (not just during the week) and consuming massive amounts of water, which makes me pee about every 15 minutes.

I've definitely lost weight. Not sure how much because I refuse to get on the scales but my clothes are looser and my belly looks less pregnant in a tight fitting shirt. yah!

So now Mr. Fitness and I have decided to do a Sprint Triathlon in August. Yes I will probably be the largest woman in history to do a triathlon but hell, I have to make history somehow? How else will they make a Broadway play out of my life?
